    • The Dolby Atmos Live Television Production Training site has been
      created in cooperation between Dolby and the Conservatory of Recording
      Arts &Sciences–CRAS. This stand-alone online training program is also
      being integrated into the audio education curriculum at CRAS as part of
      its audio for live television broadcast course. Providing vocational training
      for over three decades, CRAS’s course offerings and subject matter have always
      centered on the skills and knowledge necessary for student success in the
      industry; the CRAS broadcast curriculum is a response to the growing need
      the industry has for the next generation of broadcast audio engineers.

    The courses below are designed to give you, the professional sound mixer (A1), a foundational understanding of Dolby Atmos® and the specifics of how it can be integrated into your show.

    Begin with Core Concepts to develop a solid understanding of the general principles and terminology used with Dolby Atmos. Once completed move on to the Mixing for Live Television course to learn about the unique considerations, equipment, and workflows for TV broadcast.

    Core Concepts

    The Core Course will provide audio professionals with an understanding of the Dolby Atmos ecosystem. Dolby Atmos is not one single technology, but a collection of technologies that span from authoring in the production facility to delivery mechanisms including headphones, mobile devices, sound bars, audio/video receivers, cinemas, TV OTT/broadcast, games, Blu-ray™, and Ultra HD Blu-ray™.

    Mixing for Live Television

    Mixing in Dolby Atmos for live television requires an understanding of new concepts, equipment, and workflows. This course provides a broad outline of these ideas and takes you step by step through the process of configuring Dolby® equipment to deliver a Dolby Atmos mix.

    Installation and Mixing Guidelines

    Professional mixing studios and broadcast trucks will need to be modified in order to accommodate Dolby Atmos. In this section, you will find supplemental materials to help guide you through the extra equipment needed, installation guidelines, and example configurations to help convert your space to a Dolby Atmos mix environment. Also included, best practices for mixing in Dolby Atmos for live television.
